[Ficlet] Moon Child

This is a little ficlet of what could have happened at the end of Moon Child. ^_^ My own take at a *non* Hollywood ending.

Title: Eien no Sayonara

By: 7Maxwell

Fandom: Moon Child – Gackt/Hyde

Rating: blah, sorry no smut.

Has: A bit of angst, some drama, a touch of sentimentality
and still no smut.

Property: It belongs to those legal ppl that follow me
around, but since they bought me coffee it’s ok. *Side note* I wish I owned
Moon Child because then I’d own Gackt and my precious Hyde too. ^_~

Sum: meh…’tis a short ‘what if’ ficlet based at the end of
Moon Child where Sho and Kei await the sunrise. The muse was taken from the
song ‘Orenji no Taiyo’ which was sung by Gackt and Hyde for the movie Moon
Child.

Eien no Sayonara.

The rays of twilight had barely begun to rise but the heat
of the upcoming sun had already started warming up the night air. The light slowly creeping over the horizon
illuminated the clouds with shades of orange and purple. The color of the ocean
turned from a rich black to a dark green as the beginning of day chased away
the remains of night.

Sho gripped the steering wheel of his car tightly, fingers
wrapped firmly around the circular object as he watched the peak of the sun
hinting over the edge of the sea. The
light hurt his eyes but he refused to turn away, this was his last sunrise and
he did not want to miss it. Beside him,
Kei sat quietly staring at the rising light; his eyes misted over and his lips
set firmly in a tight line as he fought to keep from flinching at the warmth
that nipped at his skin. Together they sat waiting for the sun to rise
completely. Neither one permitting themselves to show signs of the pain
inflicted from the glow of the daylight as it slowly began to shine upon them.

“She looked beautiful tonight didn’t she?” Sho said, knowing
that this was going to be the last time he would ever talk to his friend.

“Yes she did.”

“She looks like her mother.”

Kei stayed silent.

“Has her mothers’ talent too.”

Kei nodded, “Yes she does.
She will finish growing to be a wonderful artist.”

“You did a good job raising her.”

“I did only what I had to.”

Sho’s smile faded, his hand fisting the wheel harder. “I wish I could have held her one last time.”

“You could have.” Kei responded.

“She thinks I’m dead.”

Kei didn’t answer. After he had transformed the other man
into the being that he was, they had both agreed that he would raise the little
girl. It was what Yi-Che would have
wanted. Neither of them spoke for a few minutes, each man fighting their own
demons of guilt and regret. Years of
penitents that had been left unfulfilled, and a collaboration of sins collected
throughout their immortality.

“What do you….Will she be all right without us watching over
her?” Sho asked hesitantly, beginning to second doubt his decision.

“She’s a smart girl, she’ll be fine.”

“I hope so.” He whispered releasing the wheel and leaning
back in this seat.

The sun had risen halfway into the horizon, the light
reflecting off the hood of the convertible enough to glimmer upon them. Both of them were unable to hold back the
hisses as their skin began to singe and crisp at the slight radiance of the daylight.

A tear slipped from Sho’s eye to run down his cheek,
evaporating before it fell off his chin.

“Do you think that we’ll ever see the others again? Toshi?
Shinji? Son? Yi-Chi? Do you think monsters like us will be allowed to have an
afterlife?” He asked softly in an attempt to distract himself.

“I don’t know.” Kei whispered painfully, his eyes clenched
shut, his breathing labored.

“I want to see them again…one last time.” Sho said
breathlessly, opening his eyes to take in the image of the picture sitting on
the dashboard. The picture of all of them at the beach all those years ago. He
wanted to capture their smiling faces in his mind, to take it with him wherever
he goes, whether it be heaven or hell.

Kei opened his tightly shut eyes to gaze longingly at the
picture as well, his sight blurry that he couldn’t make sense of the
photograph. Only the colors allowed him
to differentiate who was who and only for a moment as his eyes began to water.

The sun was reaching it’s full exposure and both men could
feel their existence slipping away. Death was but a mere breath away.

With a dry sob Sho reached out his hand to grab Kei’s
tightly. Their fingers lacing together almost painfully, neither willing to let
go.

“I-I love you Kei.” He said.

“I know.”

Nothing was said afterwards, both men held hands tightly
together as their bodies slowly turned into ashes and dust. An empty car that
once held two passengers remained parked alongside a beach shore overlooking a
brand new sunrise. A photograph on the
dashboard showed five people smiling, their faces gleaming with felicity and
peace. But it was the image of two men second to the left that made the picture
complete. Their closeness portraying a friendship that was deeper than life…

…and a love that was stronger than death.

_bloodyserb_ (aka my hubby) was having that problem at work, where the # was being mistaken for that of a doctor's office. So being the evil guy he is, he was giving medical advice to people over the phone. Of course he drew the line when it appeared that it could be life threatening, but he had a good time with it. Yup, we are sooo going to hell!

Arr, one of the two or three Zelda games that I actually haven't played. The N64 had Ocarina of Time and... Majora's Mask? So, um, sorry for spamming with my total uselessness? But if you're really getting frustrated, try checking out GameFAQs. That site is like my bible for gaming.
